Campaign contributions help pay for signs, printed materials, digital tools and voter outreach. Every contribution is recorded in accordance with Ontario’s municipal election rules.

How to contribute

Include your full legal name and residential address in the e-Transfer message, or email those details separately, so the contribution can be recorded and a receipt issued.

Before you contribute

Simple rules. Clear records.

Ontario’s municipal election rules set contribution limits and reporting requirements.

Contributions may be accepted from individuals who are residents of Ontario.
A contributor may give up to $1,200 total to Kathleen’s campaign.
A contributor may give no more than $5,000 total to candidates running for the same municipal council.
The contribution must come from the contributor’s own funds. Corporations, trade unions, businesses, clubs, associations and other groups cannot contribute to a candidate.
Only contributions of $25 or less may be made in cash. Larger contributions must be made using a traceable method such as cheque, money order or eligible electronic transfer.
A campaign receipt will be issued for every contribution. Municipal campaign contributions are not tax deductible and do not qualify for a charitable tax receipt.
The names and addresses of contributors who give more than $100 total will appear on the campaign financial statement, which is a public document.
